I know on my machine when I sweep in one direction sometimes I get a good strong signal but when going the other direction the signal may be broken or no signal at all, with the disc. set just above Iron.9 times out of 10 it is some kind of iron but another time it was a silver dime.Thinking to myself if I would have not dug that signal I would have never gotten that silver.Has anyone ever experienced this?

Generally, I would think that scenario would most likely be a trash target. However, I'm willing to go out on a limb and bet that the dime was on edge or at a slant rather than face up. You may not have taken notice of that when you retrieved it. This is a good example of why the "if in doubt, dig it out" crowd recovers more good targets. Any time a response sounds strange in one way or other, I retrieve it. Most of the time it's nothing special, but like your find, every so often it turns out to be a goodie.

I once got a signal like that...good (at times) in one direct and nadda or broken in another.

After 11" of digging I pulled out a Barber Half.

Let your V teach you what it's saying by digging a lot and make sure you use AM in your process of learning.
