Vaqureo & the 3x18

Got a used 3x18 coil from Richard at Backwoods (great to deal with) this looked almost new, so I tried it out at a park ,ran in super tune at above 5c mark , knocked out quarters at 8in-dimes at 9 max. Medium moisture dirt, mild ground-medium sweep speed.
Those of you with previous experience with the Bigfoot on a DFX same kind of feel, the 3x18 Tesoro is a bit more heavy and pinpoints at the top or rear of the coil ,with a little time, the pinpoint was easy to master-notch sound breakup was similar to other Tesoro coils. Fast for coin shooting large areas-I haven't checked for small target signals yet. Found a soda can top @ 11in, so larger targets will be detected at a medium sweep
I think the Vaqureo has a faster recovery speed than the DFX ,so a target can be detected with a slightly faster sweep. The Vaq & the 3x18 coil are a good match up for fast coin shooting
I had always wondered how the Bigfoot coil would compare to the Tesoro 3x18-Jury still out
At least the 3x18 is still made by Tesoro-the only alternative is a used Bigfoot for brand "W"

Thanks for the info, I've read about it on other machines, never on the V. I wonder how it would do on a salt beach?

I have used the 3x18 on a ground balance modified Cibola and on a Tejon. It is not as nose heavy on the Tejon and the Tejon is generally a little deeper. On the salt water beach it is a terrific coil as long as you work the slightly damp and dry areas and not the full wet. Neither the Cibola or Tejon get close to being able to ground balance to the full wet salt beach areas and a lot of depth is lost. 4 inches on coins in the wet salt sand is about as good as I can get on a good day on the Altantic coast beaches I've tried with the 3x18 cleansweep coil. Not much better with the standard coil in the full wet either. I can do maybe an inch better depth wise with the 5.75 concentric in the full wet, but I'll normally just switch to a different detector that can ground balance to the wet salt sand or go with the Sand Shark.

I run the cleansweep on the Cibola, and it's a killer combination in the soccer fields. Run disc just at iron, and dig all signals above iron. You will dig lots of trash, but the rings and jewelry finds have risen for me with this combination. Not as deep as the standard coil, but you can sure hunt some ground with this thing.

There is a lot to said for using a 3x18-I took it to a park that I frequently hunt and that has been pounded hard by clubs, I still managed to find 3 dimes buried separately and two quarters and a nickle in one hole & in all metal mode found a small gold earring and the back of the earring!
