I went to the site that last December gave up a beautiful 1805 Half Cent. I was determined today to get another oldie if I could. Within the first ten minutes of "pingin" I got the beautiful pewter button and about 6 inches to the right of it was the very nice 1813 Classic Head Large Cent.
My spirits were up after just ten minutes of hunting, and it was about to get nicer.
Only 20 feet away in heavy trash I got the 1788 New Jersey Colonial, my second this year and eleventh overall! It is a Maris 77-dd III variety.
Then I got the nice geometric designed button and my last coin of the day which turned out to be a 1730 or 1739 King George II Halfpenny.
After going awhile without anything I finally got a few more targets to dig, the "musketball" still has the sprue on it and the mold marks, so it is non-fired one, then I got what appears to be a homemade copper nail? and then a buckle.
I am not done with this site for sure and today was one of those special days that you put in that special memory bank of good times <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
I was using the original XS, 8 inch ML coil, ferrous sounds, -16 Iron Mask.

Very nice Don!! A great looking large cent and tell us more about the NJ Copper Maris 77-dd..what is it worth??
 
Those are some awesome finds man!!! Way to go!! I envy the folk on the east coast <img src="/metal/html/frown.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":(">
 
I have seen two in auction recently, one for low $100 and another in the $200 range. It don't matter for me, I could not give any of my Jersey coins at this time.
But the value will climb for sure as more Colonial collectors enter the market and try and fill in their needed varieties.....
