ver 4 disc settings

I was testing ver 4 today in my test garden and was trying to get my disc settings to mimic version 3.2 which I set at one in my programs. I settled on -5.4 or- 4.4 anyone tested it in the field running those settings. Really like the 2.5 reactivity.

Last hunt I tried hunting with Disc at -3.0 in the 8 kHz program. I wanted to see how much and what kind of iron was present and it was very clear and concise with these settings. Normally I have anything to do with iron turned off, but this time was a little different and felt like making some adjustments....

I dug a few larger iron bits out in order to see what may have been masked but no significant co-located targets were found last hunt. I set my Iron Volume to 2 and unnotched the iron section completely, only notch I had was 97-99. There were some deep nails that liked to hit above 95 in 4kHz but these were 9" and deeper. So far all of the non-ferrous deep items at 8" and beyond have IDed below 95, anywhere from 70-94 depending on the target.

I usually don't have iron audio turned on but I was happy with the way iron targets were identified. Much less "smearing" of the audio and a cleaner sound - but only MHO here!

Well....I've got a bunch of snow here and really want to investigate these settings but can't. So I'm going to ask you.
Why wouldn't 1 still be 1? Or zero be zero?
I'm told that the negative settings have to do with or can help detect ceramic and pottery in the UK this could be a help with ancient sites.
I'm told that they can be a help in highly mineralized soil.
Do you show mineralization in the bar to the right of your screen on the horseshoe display? If so how much?
When you say that you think 5.4 or 4.4 is close to your old setting of 1 on v3. Is that because you think that setting makes the targets in your test garden hit like they used to?
Is a setting of 1 no longer hitting as it did before with all other settings same same?
Get to work buddy. Love the 3center

thanks for the info. I like the sounds on it today too.

If you run the disc setting s using full tones using V4,. Usw the same/similar disc settings as one did using V3.2,,,get ready to dig some nails and iron.
I like -.2.5 disc,,,,doing this V4 mimmicks sound wise V3.2 using full tones as far as the iron and nails go.

I dont know Todd but its not the same when you disc 0-1 it starts knocking the nails out its not the same as 3.2 disc 1 to 2,5. I would say 0 - 1 is more like 4.0 disc on version 3.2 . Seems like the scale changed some with the new version. You know I like to hear all the iron and when I got to 0 - 1 on v4 it starts to knock the iron out. I will have to say how it acts in the field tommorrow.

i saw a video on youtube on this the other day. at 0 disc in V4 a small nail is not detected. nothing. he had to go to minus 3 or 4 before the nail make a sound. of course i can't remember the web address of that video now... V4 is another beast altogether from V3.2. we have to learn this machine fine points all over again.

I tested your sifter program today and found 0 disc. to work the best. I went minus in the bed of square nails I was hunting today and it seemed any negative Disc. would flood out the audio with iron farts. I ran at 0 Disc. and managed to pull some good finds from the nails.
