Very happy with Gamma

I picked up a used Gamma and two extra coils. (5" and 11"dd) I used the 11" coil first and practiced pinpointing with it. I marked the sweet spot on top of the coil with a silver sharpie. I then practiced with and without using pinpoint and am comfortable with it now. I had never used a dd coil before My favorite coil is the 5"dd,I love small coils. Today I pulled a 1915 buffalo,1926 and 1934 Wheaties from a lot that used to be an old church. I have been working this little trash infested lot for three years, and it keeps giving up old coins. I really like the Gamma audio. The two tones feature is great for working in heavy iron.It even has a unique sound when it overloads on large shallow iron. You also have modulated audio(shallow loud/deep softer sound) I had the sens as low as 5 and as high as 80 in some of the different sections. The ground grab feature is great.I am really looking forward to my upcoming Virginia relic rescue hunt with this machine. I learned a great Garrett propointer trick today. If your propointer gives a lot of false signals,or just wont "shut up",take a piece of tissue and ball it up and place it inside the cap so it prevents the battery from moving. I lived with a noisy propointer for a year, and was about to send it in for repair. It works like new again. Happy Hunting.

thanks for the tip on the pinpointer thank you i wont to try the gamma and will one day so i will wont to hear your post on it thanks again

I had the same problem with my Pro Pointer. I took a piece of two sided foam tape with the backing left on one side and stuck it to the bottom of the battery. Perfectly quiet now.

I just got a new Gamma, and tryed it out Sat. For not every using it i did very well, I keep trying to ground grab over something in the ground at first, but after reading the manual again i did it right. I used all metal to just see what it was telling me.I got alot of coins and it will go deep on small foil. I think after i use this awhile i will like it. Flintstone

Nice finds. Is the stud real? I went out to a trashy park Sunday. Found some clad and lots of pull tabs. Defiantly got to get the 5" coil, lots of trash. I was having problems with the noise to. I got it to shut after gb at 51 then bringing my sensitivity all the way down and bringing it up until it started getting noisy and then backed it off a little to 87. I then re ground balanced, just to make sure, and was able to bring the sensitivity up to 90. Ran good after that. My settings were 2 tone, disc 15. I was impressed with the depth even with my soil conditions, found a dime at 7"

Gamma Update. The Gamma worked great on my Culpepper VA relic hunt. The majority of the hunt was in a wooded area,so the mineralization wasn't too bad. Two years ago I did some plowed fields in Culpepper and the ground was extremely bad. My Coinstrike was not happy.I used the 5" DD coil on the Gamma the whole time in the woods,it was very easy to manuver.I found six 58 cals, a knapsack hook, and an eagle button. I have been using the Gamma since November, and have gotten very good with it. The pros: Extremely light weight, runs on one 9volt,simple to set up/learn,love the 4 tones when coin hunting, two tones for relic hunting, lightning fast recovery speed, espically with the 5" coil, simple to ground balance, will i.d. targets in all metal mode, the screwcap notch is great for telling alum caps from zinc cents. The only "con" is that it swears every square tab or piece of can slaw is a nickel. Even alot of the dead "57" with perfect audio hits and stedy vdi, turn out to be square tabs. The can slaw is a little easier to tell by audio from a square tab/nickel. Do nickels that have been in the ground for some time go up into the tab range,or down into the foil range? I really like this machine,it's a keeper!
