Vesicular basalt?

surface form could be vesicular basalt, but I've seen other rocks with similar surfaces, for example rocks with soluble inclusions that weathered out. Basalt is dark gray, your pic looks light gray (like dirty limestone) but that may be just the lighting? In general basalt is somewhat heavy due to its iron content, but vesicular can be fairly light stuff due to the vesicles.

If you look at the surface of the rocks with a good magnifying glass, you'll see the texture of the rock. Your two most likely candidates are basalt and limestone, and under the magnifying glass those two things look entirely different, it is impossible to mistake one for the other.

Please let us know what you see. And don't forget GoogleBing Images to help you out.
