Found this a few days ago in a field that was once a Viking Camp. It is a Strap End; the equivalent of a metal crimp found on the end of some belts to stop fraying. It is about 1300 years old.

If any of you guys live in England there is an opportunity to hunt on this site very soon. You would be welcome.

East Midlands, Archaeologists will be surveying the fieals on that day and logging finds. I don't know which day, but it will be short notice. Unfortunately the farmer has stated all valuable finds must be given to the museum.
