jazzyboy116@yahoo.co.uk Found among the rocks on the coast of the isle of cumbrae it was covered in crustations and seaweed I don't know what kind of metal it is but its silver in colour 14inch by 9 inch after reading of the history surrounding the Ayrshire coast waters it would be nice if someone could shed light on what or where it came from sorry about the quality of pictures if any one is interested I will take more pictures it is very old and has been in the water a long time by the way it was covered hope someone out there can give me an idea cheers

That is an amazing find, to me it looks like an old style anchor, but I am not a history major haha. I would see if the mods can move this to the ID THIS section to get more views and feedback. Congrats on this find, definitely awesome.

I think it is a hinge of some kind but that is only my opinion , the three bolt bottom then all the anchor spots on the main piece as far as age I am not sure what has me baffled is the hinge pin almost seems manufactured looks like hollowed brass but can't tell from pic Good luck
