I know the 7" concentric and a 5" DD coil are in the works for the X.
Kind of a polling question(s).
How many of you potential Vista X buyers would buy a smaller 7" concentric coil?
And possibly a 5" DD coil?
For the most part I like the smaller coils for trashy schoolyard, parks, picnic grounds I hunt. Over the years
gravitated to the smaller 7" size coils for this type of hunting. They provide just the right amount of depth and sensitivity
for the targets generally found down to 6-7" deep.
I have used the small 5" round DD coils on the Fisher GoldBug and Teknetics T2. Super easy to swing and are really
killer coils for shallow and small targets in dense trash. Took a bit of getting used to when first using these smaller size coils.
You just can be in a rush or think your going to cover a large area anytime soon. The 5" coils can really dissect an area and pick up targets
missed by larger coil sizes.
Right now I am really looking forward to the 7" concentric coil for the Vista X being released.
One other thought, a lightweight search coil would really balance a detector out if the epoxy potting used was of a light weight material. Quest detectors,
uses a real lightweight filling to produces such a lightweight coil. Guessing they use a light weight filler mixed in with the epoxy?
The Vista X having three coils available for it would round this detector out for many. Stock 9x11DD, 7"Concentric, and 5"DD.
