Hi Guys,Gals

I have been looking into these detectors 705 700 or Explorer, safari quatro VFLEX OR FBS or if any one can suggest a better one.
I am a keen coin jewellery hobbyist I have a gold detector XT1700 MINELAB and i have been finding everything and i mean everything.
my detector will tell me if it's ferrous but i still like to dig any way would like to venture into a detector made for my needs eg Discrimination , Notching out etc..
A serious coin jewellery detector , for beach and park
thanks guys any comment's will help
must keep digging. ..:) :)..

Hi guys ,
thanks again for all your comments just got back from a hunt 3 or 4 hours ago come up with my first gold ring 18 ct
2.5 hr hunt total find 3x 5cent in one hole total 6x ,3x 20 cent ,1x 50 cent and 1 dollar coin plus the gold ring
still digging and loving it
thanks for all your info guys all my finds are going to the next detector
......

Basically an Explorer will handle it all especially the deep silver. however in a local park the light 705 would be a better choice for shallower clad and gold jewelry ought to cover it all in one sentence..

i think right now the quattro is the biggest bang for your buck. they are selling in excellent shape for around $400. good target info and deep. i've never used a 705 (once i used a minelab multi-freq machine i've never used anything else except a pulse machine at beach.) if you buy all the coils for 705 you can get into some cash outlay......hh.....jb

Hi Guys here is a photo of the gold ring i just found yesterday 18 ct
plus a collection to date approx 8 weeks of digging :).. . :)
Any comment's for original question will help
happy digging :)

I guess my question is ... what the heck is wrong with what you are using now??? seems to be doing well. On the beach, i like the FBS just because they transition BETTER from dry to wet sand than a single freq. A PI is still you best best on the beach, but the SOV arent as expensive at the Explorers and do as well if you dont need a screen to look at. Sometimes in a park good separation, a detector that gives distinct tones in the nickel area, and doesnt go seriously deep will pick up jewelry and clad better than our super machines. Jewelry just doesnt get that deep unless its covered.... it more about know what it sounds like and digging a lot of trash. Also, try just digging those targets you wan to find.... be willing to hunt for just jewelry and ignore those other signals. Digging takes time as does checking EVERY target on the screen.
