volley ball courts?

I got permission(2 days ago) to detect 4 courts at a bar in a large city by me. Got to know the owner over the years.

These courts are only accesible from the inside and they hold leagues there weekly, also tournaments every month or so. And have been doing this for the last 8 yrs. Owner told me that they have never been touched with a metal detector. Sweet huh

Well me and a friend wt a 2500 met the owner there yeserday at 10:00 am. We split the courts, him 2 and me 2.We went into this thinking "We are going to find some rings" . wouldn't you think that?

Took us until 2:30 to finish and we never found 1 descent ring. although my friend did find a half of a junk ring.

The sand was loaded wt items. Lots of coins, screws, hair pins, cheap ear rings. We found almost the same number of coins, he found 3 more than me. Somewhere around 60 each.

I found more junk jewelry than he did though,,, and it is not much to look at. I/we still cant believe not a ring in the bunch. Here's some of what I found.

Any place I can find urban sand, I try to hit it. Volleyball courts are a prime spot, especially out of the way ones, like at churches, apartment complexes, etc.

Folks don't loose many rings playing volley ball and most take them off before playing.

Sounds like you and your friend pretty good. I searched half of a volleyball court a few weeks ago (had to leave when the rain started) and found absolutely nothing. I was told that someone else had been there the day before. He must have cleaned it out. At least he took the trash with him.

My last trip to a volleyball court I was expecting jewelry and got a silver dime at about 8 inches. You just never know. These volleyball courts are hit by every treasure hunter within a 50 mile radius and I've been over them 2-3 times in the past few years.

Check the earrings good. Maybe diamonds.

The courts are a good place to MD. I wish we had more
of them where I live. You never know what you might find

I've had decent luck at VB courts. "Organized" volleyball may not produce alot of quality items, but if you can find a court where there's alot of beer-drinking and "spontaneous" games, people lose some good stuff.
