wanted to buy - ATX original 8 inch mono coil

Hi guys.

Anyone have a 8 inch mono they have brought or a store demo for sale? Seems the recon 8 inch won't work....so looking for an original part for the garrett atx.

Dale

Hey Dale, I am just curious who gave you the info. I would like clarification myself as the 8 and 20" coils for the atx and recon have the same part # as can be seen at the following link and a pic directly from a recon parts list.

It is so annoying! Old California has both...spoke with him (see recent posts in the atx forum). He has been told via garrett the 8 inch mono will damage the atx. I would like to get hold of a atx 8 inch mono....and yours. ...test them electronically for impedance, resistance etc. Have a look at his posts.

I wonder what would happen if we ask for a 2234000 FROM garrett. Would they ask us what machine it is for? I guess that would prove or dispel the theory.

I agree, that makes no sense. When an order comes through for a 2234000 8" coil how in the world would the person pulling the order know which coil they are grabbing? I thought I saw where old California had used his recon coil on his atx with no problem...

As far as them asking what machine it is for, I don't buy it...they wont sell the recon coils to civilians and I bet that is the only reason they are saying they wont work. They don't want people getting ahold of and using the recon stuff...

Hopefully someone here has an ATX 8" mono coil for you Dale, I'm right behind you will get one in the near future.

(Saving the Past) Must be an misunderstanding from a past post of mine with using an 8" Recon coil with the ATX, Thinking back what may have caused this misunderstanding is my using Infinium DD coils with Recon shaft on both the ATX and Recon.

Did read somewhere from a reliable source the Recon 8" coil may damage the ATX, So with this information never took the chance of using a Recon 8" coil on my ATX just not worth the risk.

All Infinium DD coils will work with the ATX, But not the Infinium 8" mono coil or Recon 8" mono coil based from what I read. The Infinium DD coils are the smaller 3.5" X 7" DD, 5" X 10" DD and the 10" X 14" DD. Between the three the 5" X 10" DD is my favorite and stays on the ATX about 90% on the time mostly for land hunting or dry sand, Even replaced the coil cable with same like cable as the ATX so the cable coils down into the shaft. Although it appears to be ok to submerge in shallow water such as fresh water lakes I'm afraid it will eventually leak because the smaller DD coils are not made to be used in water which is my reasoning for needing the 8" coil.

Hopefully Garrett comes out with other coils for the ATX, Be nice to see others using similar type coils as the ones modified for my ATX.

The 5x10dd looks good. Is the depth ok? I wonder how hard to make waterproof to 3 metres. .. I guess it is mainly the coil connection plug that would need sealing. While on the topic has anyone seen the 8 inch mono for less than 450 usd?
