WARRANTY : GREAT NEWS AND A LESSON.

BARKER

Hi folks; I want to share some great news regarding Fisher's Repair Dept., Mr. Felix Cavillo, What happened was that about 1 1/2 years ago I bought an ID Edge from a guy who used to belong to my Club. The arrangement was that I make payments to him until it was paid off at $450. We agreed to this arrangement due to my having been in the hospital wih a broken back and neck with ensuing bouts of paralysis; 14 X in one year literally from my chest down.Needless to say I was hurting financially as well. This guy I bought it from agreed to this deal because he knew my situation .I was gratefull. He even gave it to me ahead of the payments knowing I used the detector for the exercise I get from detecting to help strengthen my legs.Well I got the ID Edge and I managed to use it abou 6 X then it started going crazy on me.I was floored.I had already made $300 in payments to this guy. I could not get a signal at all.The VDI #s were totally erratic and I could not get a depth reading or pinpoint at all.I was devastated.!!!!! I sent the detector in a few weeks ago for repairs believing the detector had a Warranty.I then called and spoke to Mr. Feilix Cavillo and explained all this to him.I spoke to Mr. Cavillo several times about it and drove him crazy in a good way.The problem it turns out is that because the guy I bought the detector from had won it in a contest and I did not have the name of the Dealer who donated that detector to the Club Hunt he won it at Fisher could not honor the Warranty and it would cost me $95.00 to have it fixed.I was floored.I literally don't have it due to my condition.I then called Mr. Cavillo and explained it to him.He said to hang on and he will talk to his boss and don't hang up.I DIDN"T.!!!!! He came back and said jokingly, " Well Ron it will cost you $995.00 to repair and No Warranty." My heart stopped.!!!!! The he said, " Just kidding,Because of my circumstances that he would sign off on it and repair it for free. The only catch is that the Actual Warranty is void itself after this." I fell over.!!!!!!!!!! I thanked Felix profusely and promised I would send him pictures of my finds with the ID Edge. You can bank on that one Felix.!!! I'm ecstatic. I get it back next week.THANK GOD and Felix Cavillo. POINTER: Do not EVER buy a detector of any type without knowing who the ORIGINAL Dealer is.I may have gottten a lemon and Felix may have gotten squeezed a bit but my detector is coming back and I can get my excersize for my back and legs again.I DO thank Felix and the Staff at Fisher for their understanding and assistance in this matter. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL ND YOURS.!!!!! You gave me back my strength, my heart, my faith and my legs back again. What kind of Warranty can give you that??????? PEACE:RONB

Hi; I believe the Warranty is automatically transferable as long as ALL the original information has been filed with the Factory PROPERLY. Ok. Thanks for the encouragement.I need it. God Bless. PEACE:ROONB

Warranties are not transferrable under normal conditions but this was a one shot deal and now he has no warranty if unit goes down again...
Some companies do transfer warranties but unfortunately not Fisher and thank Fisher for their kindness in this case..

I called Fisher about sending my warranty cards in and was told i dont have to send them in at all, and i just need my proof of purchase to have it coverd for the warranty.

Hi Folks; To Dan-PA, Thanks for clarifying that on transfers..Your right on the "ONE SHOT" deal. Thats why I am so gratefull especially after the HELL I've been through.I thank God for Felix.I have lost the Warranty but I've got my detector back and can practice walking again. The Lesson here is that I got sold a lemon. The Warning is : The second you get that detector make sure you have the ORIGINAL Dealers name and info. for Fisher AND mail in the Warranty card regardless of what else is going on or you "can" end up in the same situation. There is no fault on Fisher's part. They are a business.!!!! They followed their established protocol but still gavve me an incredible break.Thank God for them.
To: space weaseal; SEND THEM IN.!!!!!!!!!! Again they are a business and do have established protocol to follow.Besides it only costs the price of a stamp.!!!!!!!! Better safe than sorry ok.I hope this helps. PEACE:RONB

As Dan said above...the FISHER warranty is NOT transferrable. If that was true,,I would be back on the phone with Felix tomorrow regarding my used F-75 LTD I sent them couple weeks ago. Im going to have to pay to have it serviced even though it had only 2hrs on it when I bought it.
The only company that offers transfers on warrantys that I know of is WHITES.
Felix, as well as Daniel the tech there are great people. They fixed my CZ-3D afew months ago.
Glad they're taking care of you.
Aaron

Hi Aaron; Thans. I do understand what your saying. They did me a "HUGE" favor. Mine was right out of the box literally so technically I "AM" the first or Original Owner thats why they did it.I also believe they did it for humanitarian reasons as well.I also realize this is a ONE SHOT deal.I thank God for them every time I see that detector sitting here. I got it back last Thursday.I'lll be sending them my pictures next week. Trust me, Paralysis is NO joke.It is a terrifying, ALL consuming feeling.Even morphine can't kill that pain.!!!!! For me I've been detecting for 39 years now. Started when I was 13 years old with a Radio Shack BFO type detector. I'm 52 now. For me to lose detecting would literally kill me.Felix and Fisher gave me the Will and Strength to carry on.No one can impune Fisher for that. I didn't know Fisher also manufactured LIVES. They did mine. That's no bull. Felix, If you guys are listening you have my permission to print anything I've said here and I "WILL" back it 100% with my full blessings.ok??? If anyone has any questions they can even contact me DIRECTLY as well ok. By the way Aaron, I'm a "huge" White's fan well ok. My first Whites was a Whites BeachComber in 1977. Loved it. Had a blast digging every pulltab from here to Pluto at 5" deep but I still loved it.Anyway I wish You well Aaron. May God Bless You and Yours. PEACE:RONB

Nice story and good on Fisher for comming through. I have to scrape and scratch just to be able to buy a used detector and there would be no way that I could afford to have one repaired. Fortunately I have used Tesoro's almost exclusively for many years and never had to send one in for repair but if I would of had to they do not charge for repairs. I sold my Tesoro and have a Fisher comming (1236) thought it was time to try something different. I hear/read many good things about Mr. Cavillo, I was wondering does Fisher charge $95.00 plus shipping to repair everything (seems thats the magic number from reading the forums) or do they base $$$ on parts plus labor. Because to me $95.00 is alot of money if something as inexpensive as something like a loose wire that needs resoldiering. But then I guess in todays day and age it cost about 50 -60 dollars an hour to get anything fixed. Not trying to run Fisher's repair policys down just wondering how repairs are based in case I ever need their service. Steve.

P.S. Hope you are feeling better RONB.

Hi SkiWhiz; I believe they charge by the Repair to be done but I don't know. You can call them ok. I'm not a Fisher Spokesman or even work for them in any manner. I just related a great true story about a great guy and his Company; Fisher. After that I don't know. But I can tell you that I will stand behind Fisher and Felix 100% ok. Thannks. PEACE:RONB
