Was any one else an April fools baby?

Today was my birthday:biggrin: The big 54. I have had a great day. My closest friend Tammy just left. She brought me a batch of german chocolate cupcakes and a shovel. The shovel I'll explain in a moment. I got up this morning about eight oclock.I was up til almost two AM last night so I was slow getting up this morn. My Bunn is on the blink so I had to heat a cup of water in the micro wave for coffee. My younger brother Mike's girlfriend Tina gave me permission to hunt some property she owns and is putting up for sale. Its a house that was built in the 30's. I was excited about that. I had hunted half the property about a year and a half ago. found several wheat pennys and some other odds and ends. I figured, and still do,that there has to be some silver coins there somewhere. It was a bit chilly this morning but was supposed to hit the high sixties so I decided I would not head over there til about noon. What to do til then... well the answer was easy, pick a page from this forum and read it. I picked page 201. Wayne you posted a story of your horse Sam and how he stomped on your hat. I really enjoyed reading that. guess I enjoyed reading that whole page, all the posts and responses. There didn't seem to be alot of respect for kittys on that page lol. between reading all those posts and making and having breakfast and tormenting my two cats Noodle and Doc, the morning went by pretty quick.

I got over to the house and started hunting about twelve thirty. I hunted til four oclock. I didn't find any silver but had a good time. there was lots of big iron. Most of it I didn't dig cause it was to big to pull out of a small hole. Some of those targets I am really curious about. I ended up finding; 3 hotwheels(I am getting to gether a nice little collection of those.) 1 brass bell,1 fork, 1 pair of tweezers 4 mason jar lids in four differant spots around the yard.( No glass from the jar, just the lids.) and one surface find,a poker chip. Oh and a single brass leaf. and of course bunches of junk. I didn't find anything valuable but I really enjoyed the hunt. The weather was great, honey bees were out foolin' round. was a nice time. Almost forgot, found a 1958 wheat penny.

Tammy called me at three thirty and said she would stop by when I got home. A few years ago Tammy wanted to do some planting around her place. Lilac bushes and some other things. She didn't have a shovel so I bought her one for her birthday. Just a little small handled spade. A few months ago while doing some research I found some old foundations out in the woods so I asked Tammy if I could borrow her little shovel. ( I live in an apartment complex and don't have the room to keep alot of stuff I would like to have).Tammy lent me her shovel and I kept it in my car I didn't get a chance to use it a whole lot but when I did I got it covered with mud. I wrapped the head of it in a garbage bag and put it in the back of my car. Now that spring is coming on,Tammy asked if I was done with her shovel cause she would be needing it. I did not want to give her back the shovel in the condition it was in,and I was going to need one again soon anyway so I bought her a new one and thought I would just keep the other one in my car. I took my cat Doc over to her place to hang out with her cat for awhile, and I gave her the new shovel. I didn't tell her it was new and she didn't seem to notice. I had told her that when I gave it back to her, I was gonna buy one to have for some deep woods relic hunting. Since she didn't know that I had kept her shovel and bought her a new one, she bought me one for my birthday. Now I have two shovels. Guess I'll just have to do twice as much digging. ;) I didn't tell Tammy about the shovels.

When I was done hunting for the day I stopped by Miejers and bought a few things. I always buy a ten dollar scratch of ticket on pay day and yesterday was payday. Since I was off work for a week with my back, I had decided not to get a ticket this time around. small check- tight budget. But since it was my birthday today I decided to get myself a present. A ten dollar ticket. When I got home I scratched it off and hit five hundred dollars. :yikes: Between my five hundred dollars,my new shovel,my relaxing fun hunt, and my German chocolate cupcakes, and some good reads to start the day off, well... I had a pretty darn good fifty fourth. Best of luck.

Most of us 'old timers' appreciate the fact that others take the time to read an appreciate our humble offerings

when i was born my Dad said........say Hon, a day earlier and we could have named him Patrick! To which my very Welsh mother replied.......over your dead body!
Thank you for reading and commenting on the stories, i had quite a large number of stories up but deleted most of them several months back and must have missed a couple. You see, over a period of some 10 or so years here and given that the forum slowed so much, i just felt that i need not entertain those who would not respond. I had already posted my stories for a group of friends here.

As to cats, i have three, they deal with the Rat issue that comes with having chickens or any livestock on the coast here. They are also part time house cats and pets. However, feral cats are a serious threat to game birds and songbirds along with even garter snakes and frogs, so are treated as any unnatural predator would be by most people i know.

Blade your writing is much appreciated and thank you!

Yea,I read a couple you missed Wayne. There is so much interesting, and entertaining stuff on this forum. Hope you don't take anymore of your posts off till I can read them. Wow,a couple hundred pages of reading material. Gonna take me awhile. I understand about the feral cats. I especially don't like dogs runnin' wild. Chased my ex and I off a picnic we were havin once.

Thanks Cupajo. I had been pronouncing Cupajo capoojo I didn't make the coffee connection til I read one of your posts about it. Call me slow.

Rusty,I got alot of teasin' but Don't know if I ever fought over my birthday. lol I am left handed and color blind to boot. used to think I was jinxed too.

Mikie I hope you enjoy your pension whether you retire or not.

Your right Mud,and that was sure a good feeling yesterday.
