WAS CONSIDERING A 250 BUT

I had my CC out and on the phone with Kellyco getting ready to get the Ace 250 when she hears I'm from FL and suggest the Titan 3000XD instead because of the ground balance it's able to be used in the water where the 250 can't and a few other things. Now I'm back to rethinking my decision. I told her I wanted to research it some more.Is she right about the water and the 250 and if so is the Titan any good? Remember newbie here.

Not sure about the Titan but the lady was right on in regards to the Ace and Salt water. they just don't like each other.
As a completely happy Ace user I am able to point out the weakness of this unit but still recommend it highly for every other type of hunting.

I know I'd be more then happy with the Ace from everything I've read and all the post, but another part of me says you live in a state surrounded by water why wouldn't you want a MD that can go in water.

I am not familiar with the titan, but from what I've read, salt water is VERY tricky for most detectors. You have to remember that there is no magic detector that will work for everything everywhere (unless you spend A LOT of money :) ). I would recommend that you think about where you will spend the majority of your time hunting and think about the detector that will work best in that situation. If this is your first detector, you are going to need some time to become proficient with the basics and then some more time to learn the nuances of the detector you choose.

The other thing that I have seen is that just because a detector will run quietly in salt water, that doesn't mean it will run well enough to find things. (due to loss of depth)

Don't be lured into buying a beach detector because you see all of those rings being posted in the beach/surf section and you have visions of gold rings being so plentiful that you will be making wind chimes with them and hanging them all over your yard. As I have seen posted here, it's 10% detector and 90% detectorist. I have hunted beaches with a VERY experienced hunter and he consistently out hunts me. The detectors we were using were very comparable and a third person had a "better" detector than the both of us. The experienced hunter just knew his machine so well that we didn't stand a chance. A lot of times, a detector can tell you there is a target present, but if you don't understand what the detector is saying, you might as well be swinging a frisbee on the end of a broom stick :)

Just my two cents :)

Thank you to all of you for the info, I wasn't aware the Titan 3000 was actually the Bounty Hunter 3300 with different stickers and a stand for over $200 more. I think I'll stick with the 250 until I can get a 2nd unit just for water from the finds I dig up.

The Ace works very well in the Fl. soil. There is very little minerals in the soil. It is even good on the dry sand on the beach, very fast and light. As the people pick up their stuff around 4 pm. there are some good finds. Saltwater takes a saltwater detector! Buy the Ace and it will pay for a saltwater detector in the gold you find with it. The Fl. beaches and tot lots have more gold than any place I have ever MD'ed.

Also I believe Florida had a ton of fresh water swimming hole springs. Go there if you want to get the Ace wet. DO a search and you'll find them.

was in Key West over week End Found 1 tow ring ,1Friend ship ring , and 1, 14k gold charm the size of a dime with 2 diamonds and a ruby all in the sand the first thing i found on the beach was a wheat penny don't now the date as of yet the wife grabed it and the Jewelry will post soon as i can get them back and take pics turn down to 4 bars on the sen put in jewelry mode and swing.happy hunting love that ACE 250

I see the Discovery 3300 for $299, and we sell the Titan for $379 - $80 more. It's true that their electronics are the same, but the Titan series allows you to switch coils with the 450 or the 10" - I don't see those available anywhere for the Discovery series. Then, of course, we have lots of accessories that come with it.

If you want to negotiate the price (always do-able!), call up and talk to a sales person (not me! lol!). I'm sure you can work somethin' out!! And we have plenty of reviews for them on our site and users have nothing but love! http://www.kellycodetectors.com/titan/titan3000xdbuy.htm

Let us know whatcha end up with!
