Watch Fob and a Lady

I got this watch fob about a week ago during a field hunt and the Walking Liberty today along with 2 rosies and 9 wheats. I should have went hunting yesterday when it was warmer it was breezy and cool today. But i spent my morning making a new digger from an old spade i had in the shed. I went hunting with one of the guys from the club saturday and had one of those nice long handle all steel shovels and i like it. So i decided i needed on in those tuff situations that would stand up. The total length of it is just over 2 ft. The blade is 9" long, 2 1/2" at the blade tip and 4" at the top. The back was reinforced by someone ages ago, i have no idea why. I assume because the oak is cured is the reason its so light. I think its even lighter than his was. I just drop it in a hammer holder and off i go.

Nice finds and nice workmanship! Put your guess in on Bryce's awesome contest above with prizes donated by Detector Depot and you can win a heavy duty Lesche shovel. I bought one a while back from Lynn at Detector Depot and love the tool!!

I entered the contest, thank Erik. I normally just use a butcher knife and a garden trowel in the parks. I find i can dig a coin as fast if not faster than with a fancy digger. But hey ... im always interested in an up grade.

Eddie.... this is my forth this year. This was the third from the same location. Guess the owner liked pocket watches. I have no idea how old this is its only marked GENUINE BRONZE on the back. As an antique dealer that leads me to believe its newer and may have been a field drop from the 40s. Ive dug a ton of mid 1800s flat buttons and old coins like 5 LCs there. None of the old coins were older than the 20s.

Real nice work on that shovel dewcon. She looks very sturdy.

I trhought some of the Relic hunters on here might appreciate a good digger deeponedge. This was a couple hours work and from a shovel i had found in a field so i dont have much in it. I can put a boot on it or pry the heck out of it if i need to. Thinking about putting a couple of notches in it to cut roots on one side.

G4E.... im guessing because it doesnt have a maker name its from the 20s. It appears to have been pressed not stamped onto hot bronze much like they did with seals on clay in the old days. There is a reproduction of it on Amozon and other locations for around $35 but none of the people seem to know the history behind it. I have no doubt this is NOT a reproduction. Ive got a guy that knows everything about watchs.... not sure about their fobs ive got to run him down at one of the auctions to get his opinion on it.

thanks for the info, mine was found in a field where an old farm house once stood, so I am guessing it definately has some age on it.
