Watch the sand.

I recently ran into another detectorist who was using an X-Terra 705 like myself. One of the tips that he gave me & would apply to most detectors, is to tape over any holes in the detector shaft. Apparently he used his detector on the beach & when he tried to collapse the shaft to fit the detector into his car, he found it almost impossible to do as very fine sand had worked it's way into all the connections & "gummed" the works up. It took a lot of work & WD40 to finally disassemble the shaft. He now puts tape over all holes & no longer has this problem.

Good advice, and if your detector has a vent for the speaker, it is a good idea to tie or tape some paper or cloth over that as well....sand can blow high and hard.

Good tips ... headed for the beach tomorrow and will be taking a roll of tape along. Thank you.
