I just keep a baggie handy just in case of rain or a heavy mist. Most of the new Fisher's have been released as "splashproof", but the Excel does not have that luxury. I think we just really need to be alot more careful with these new digital units than say the old analog ones. My C$ acts funny in wet weather at times too, so I always bag it as well. I always keep those long bags that the newspapers come in, in my detector bags. Some seem concerned about low serial #'s etc, & there's alotta bad rumors about the Excel which is too bad.....I have Excel #002 & it's been perfect since day 1 & I continue to see it do things that the $1000 detectors can do.
