Have an older XS. Going to Daytona Beach this spring. I use th esmaller coil. As long as I keep the control box out of the water, will I be ok not water damage machine???

Dont raise the coil above the box or water may run down the rod. ALWAYS wipe/rinse it down to get the salt water or spray off it. Dont forget to clean between the coil and coil cover.. the sand and salt water gets in there and it will false. My SE works fine down here on the wet and dry sand. That said im not wading out and taking a chance of getting it wet. If you have a cover us it.. if not put a baggy over it with a rubber band.

Also, dont go any deeper than the clamp. The water can eventually, if your out long enough.. be drawn up inside the pole all the way up to the control box. If that happens the machine is toast. And as Dew said, be very careful not to raise the coil up either, or the same thing could happen. Best thing to do for safety sake is just stay in the surf and dry sand.
HH!

do that other recommended and put bigger coil, or original 1050. no point using small coil in beach.
