Waterproof Coil for Sovereign

Sridge

New member
I have a Sovereign, 1st generation I think. It is the pre-XS model. Right now it has the 8" coinsearch coil. What other coils would work on this machine that are waterproof? I would like to use this machine on the beach and in the water. Are there any coils still made today that would work on this machine?

Mark, the 800 & 1000 Tornado's are great coils and waterproof but will be expensive. The SEF coils are water proof also,I have a 10X12 I'm happy with the performance of this coil deep and great separation. The older 800 1000 BBS is the cheapest way to go.I never liked the 1000 but the 800 is a great coil.I'm sure I've missed a few.Good Luck Ron

Any coil made for the Sovereign will work on all the different models of the Sovereign. The only 2 I know of that is not waterproof is the 8 inch coinsearch and the Joey coil. I really like the 8 inch coinsearch on my Sovereigns and one I highly recommend to learn the Sovereign with, but it is not waterproof.
The Sovereign is a great detector and it takes time to get to know it so have the patience to learn it and it will be probably one of the easiest and more accurate detector you will ever use.

Good Luck
Rick

Thanks Rick! Didn't expect that answer, but that tells me that the machine isn't as obsolete as I thought. I live near Lake Erie and like to vacation along the ocean. I'm setting up the machine to do some serious beach and shallow water hunting as well as older land sites. I'm not ready to drop cash on an E-trac yet. I've seen what the Sovereign is capable of, just need to re-learn it. (Haven't really used it in 20 years!) We'll, I never used it proper in the 1st place. I've read a lot of posts on this forum and have a long way to go. But I'm sure I'll be asking some questions along the way.
