Waterproof metal detector advice

Czhunter

New member
Hey guys I need advice on buying a good waterproof metal detector. I have a cz3d that I really like, but I live in Washington state and can't get out much, because it's always raining. I was thinkin about cashin in my vacation time, and buying a waterproof one, so I could go in the rain if I wanted. My budget would be 800.00. Anyone's opinions on brands, would be greatly appreciated. Also, just wandering if a pulse induction detector is deeper?.... Thanks guys.

The AT-Pro, AT-Gold line are pretty good and within your budget. I have the Pro and i"'m very happy with it.

Thanks sailorman. Yeah I've heard good things about the pro. What's the deepest coin you've dug with your machine?

The AT-Pro is not the deepest machine but it is a great machine for the price. You should be able to find a used one for around $400. I'm strictly a freshwater beach and water hunter and I do very well with the AT-Pro. The AT-Pro is a simple machine, it don't have all the fancy bells and whistles but it don't need them. It comes down to how well you know your machine and what its telling you. I don't use the visual display on mine at all, I know my targets very accurately by sound. I'm toying with the idea of getting the new CTX-3030, it reminds me of an AT-Pro on steroids. Two things concern me though...one the advanced learning curve and two...the weight. I hunt for hours on end, in and out of the water and the weight difference could be a deal breaker for the 3030 no matter how well balanced. Check out the AT forum here...plenty of great finds and info about the machine. The absolute deepest I ever pulled a coin was a quarter around 12" down right at the waters edge. That being said, that was a one time occurrence...the average is 4 - 6".

My deepest coin was a wheat at a measured 9". Deepest recovered target was a lead sinker that had been there a LONG time from the looks of the soil around it. It was at a measured 11"! In very easy soil under an old oak near a stream.

I have the tiger shark it's a great fresh water detector and it's rated at 200' can't beat that!
