Lee works for one of my wholesalers and we have been friends for a long time. Last month we were going over a big order and got to talking about other stuff. She asked me if I knew anyone who had a metal detector and knew how to use it. She was selling her house and did not want to leave behind a lost treasure. Ten years ago she lost the diamond pendant from he necklace while doing some yard work. She had been looking for it all this time. When the loss occured, she saw it fly into the grass. At that time she got down on her knees an looked for half a day with no success. She then went to a rental place and got two detectors that she and her husband used for a day in a failed search attempt. Several other of her friends had looked over the years with their detectors to no avail. I told her that we would find it for her. She was a little skeptical about our success but wanted us to give it a try. The pendant was 18k and had a 1/4+ carat diamond so it was worth a lot to her. I promised her that if it was there, we WOULD find it.
We went to her house on Sat. and she took us out back where she had lost her cherished pendant. I went back to the car and got Nancy's detector. I told Nancy to find the thing and I would dig it for her as the hunt area was very small. I knew that Nancy could find anything. Being a guy, I had three detectors and all my hunting gear in the car but it was not going to be needed. Nancy started out with 2 junk targets and Lee was getting worried. The 3rd target sounded just right. I dug a plug and Lee was on her knees helping me use the pinpointer to locate what was there. The dirt opened up and there it was! Lee grabbed it so quick I never had a chance. Here it is in lee's hand after ten years lost.

She was amazed that she had looked for ten years, we found it in 5 minutes. And, boy was she ever happy to have it back, Nancy and I had achieved "Hero status".
This photo is Nancy standing and Lee still on the ground by the hole with the pendent in her hand. I just love it when it goes like this.

I cleaned it up and took a close up of the pendant in Lee's hand so you could all see the find.

After that photo she was grinnin' like a fox eatin' yellow jackets for hours as we sat an talked about detecting. I think she will be getting a detector soon and we will be giving her and her husband lessons and taking them detecting. I am going to get a lot of phone calls from the place where she works. She told everyone there we were going to try and find that pendant but she knew we wouldn't. Oh Lee of little faith! HHDC
