It has been very busy lately. With working long hours and trying to get my house ready to sell, I'm whipped! Trying to meet the appraisers conditions so the house will qualify for FHA. I was 3/4 done with painting the eaves of the house when the bank came back and said I needed to replace the roof. Had that done yesterday and in the process a lot of boards had to be replaced, so it's back on the ladder again! Closing is set for next Friday, provided I finish the painting and hang a 16' section of gutter. I have to this myself because I can't afford to pay a contractor.
No time to go digging.
I did go with Brians 4th grade class to see a local minor league baseball game and the kids had a blast. Man, was it cold!! That was Wednesday, and I worked on the house from about 3:00 to 9:30, nailing by moonlight!
It looks like we'll have to schedule another surgery for Brian, the tumors are starting to obstruct his breathing. It sometimes is hard to understand what he is saying because the roof of his mouth is being pushed down making some words hard to pronounce.
I need to get ready for work, today is a long day, 9am to 9pm! But I AM thankful, many people work the same hours but it is much more physical. I am also thankful I have a job.
Oh, I almost forgot, I got a call from a girl I worked with 2 years ago at another furniture store. She said I was her inspiration and has accepted Jesus as her Lord and saviour. Now, I don't quote a lot of scripture but do let people know what I believe and where I stand. I told her to give all the credit to the Holy Spirit who lives in me, and now in her, that all I am is a tool in His service.
She does have some issues to deal with so please pray for her.
Sorry this post is so long and it may be awhile before I get to post again until I get this house finished. I do find a couple of minutes to check the prayer requests.
God bless all of you and thank you for your prayers and support.
Doug

Doug - I am like you - dont quote scriptures but do let people know my position. That's great that the girl accepted the Lord. Actually, nothing in the world is more important than that !
As for the house - keep after it - sounds like it's almost done. We have been in the same house for 34 years now . Haven't thpught of selling -probably part of the reason is I'd have to do all the things like you are doing because the bank says so
I'll pray for Brian's surgery and condition. He sure is a warrior !!

to go through everything and the power to overcome all the problems and difficulties you seem to be encountering with your house and the long hours at work! Yes, Praise God, that you have a job and are able to do the work on the house repairs yourself! The reason I took my house off the market....lived here since 1974......I just couldn't pay for all the expense of repairing and painting and etc and unable to do it myself any longer! But my God will provide and help me to stay here or to move on....whatever His will is!
It won't be long until the house will be taken care of and won't be your problem, so hang in there and give God the Praise in all things, for 'tis Him Who moves mountains out of our way!
Glad you are still working and will keep praying for Brian and healing for him through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Also, blessed be the name of Jesus, for the salvation of another soul for God's Kingdom! Yes, I'll pray for her too!
God Bless & hope you are able to do some detecting soon and find some goodies to post for us to see!
Betty

Thanks for your prayers, Steve! I was able to take tomorrow off from work so I can finish my house. We'll go to the early service and then work till we drop!
Doug

Dig,
I noticed this post just after I asked how Brian was doing. Sorry about that. I prayed for Brian and you and especially because you know what? You are a SuperDad. To go through what you do as a dedicated parent, I gotta say God has done wonders in your life. Keep the faith and keep up the good work, SuperDad.

Doug,
Hang in there... the storms will pass. Just continue to seek shelter in the Lord. He'll get you through this just like every other one you've had in your life.
That's really nice about that girl coming to the Lord. Even when we don't think it's much, God uses what we say and do to further His kingdom.
Had a guy at work many years ago. Was an alcoholic, divorced. He started going to AA meeting and talking about his "higher power"... His beliefs were all mixed up; AA lingo, Catholic background, santaria too...
I gave him a bible and some verses to look up. He was still mixed up after that and quite honestly, he was annoying. Interupting me in my job, always at the wrong time. Going on and on about some crazy doctrine he was getting from who knows where. Finally I told him, very nicely, that he needed to go to a bible believing church. I told him he needed to get the truth from the bible and nowhere else. After some time he did. Make a long story short, he eventually accepted Christ and was baptised. I hadn't seen him for a long time as I was working in a different location. Years after all this took place, he called me over.
He said, "I want to apologized to you for never thanking you for introducing me to my best friend, Jesus..."
I wanted to cry. In spite of my bad attitude, He used me anyway. Go figure.

I really appreciate your prayers and kind comments. Sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel, or raising the white flag, but I can't. God never promised us an easy life, but he does promise to be with us through trials and tribulations. Satan continues to shoot fiery darts but they are extinguished by the love of Christ and by wearing the full armor of God. Satan can't harm me. Unfortunately, I may never get to meet all the wonderful people on this forum, here on earth, but I know we'll meet one day in the big house, and I'll have a lot of hugs for all you guys!!!
Thanks again, Russ!! Let us know about your test results!
Doug

That is a great story! That man had to overcome a lot and then be humble enough to thank you for introducing him to his saviour, well, that is a testimony of where he is in his walk. I will add some comments later, wifes calling, got to get ready for church.
