Weatherproof Control Box

I am surprised I have not heard anything about the claimed Weather Proof Control Box.Is it truly Weathr Proof like the Troy 3&5, and can one hunt in the rain with no problem. Do we have to cover it up with our towel or just let it soak? Has anyone heard anything about this feature?

The box is waterproof in that mist is not a problem since the only openings are to the speaker in the rear of the control housing.

If you want more protection (which even for day-to-day hunting is a good idea), then pick up one of the Enviromental Covers that Minelab already has developed for the X-Terra line. Slips on easily, keeps the LCD from getting scratched and if you are out and it starts raining, you are totally protected. Made to fit the X-Terra's, it's available from Minelab directly so any supply issues from 3rd party vendors is no longer an issue (and the cover looks sharp on as well :D).

Here's what the Minelab Environmental Cover looks like on the X-50 . . . . . . . again, cheap protection.

And this is the back with the opening for the headphones on the side

This cover has been on several incarnations of the X-50 for a while and has kept the LCD screen scratch-free, especially when digging in muddy soil or free from salt buildup when hunting the beach.
