Weekend finds in Iron mask 16

Big Boys Hobbies

Well-known member
I found these 2 Oklahoma tax tokens from the 1930s bent together just like you see at about 4-5 inches in HEAVY Iron. I went to iron mask 10 to check it and it was a very broken signal. I would not have dug it. I am REALLY liking iron mask 16. I really do believe its the way to go.

Would you recommend a newbie to the SE run in iron mask 16?

I have been detecting for 7 years, but with a Garrett. Have an SE on the way.

Well for a SE user I think its IM 32. IM 16 is wide open for the EX II model. I cant honestly say what to recommend. Its a ford Chevy thing. You will hear lots more targets that aren't masked or nulled out by iron but it kinda gets noisy listening to everything. Its whatever your ears can handle. I do know my finds have increased going slower and using iron mask 16.

My best advice would be to find some iron in the ground with the SE in ferrous and IM 32 then lay a coin on top of the ground. See what if you like what you hear. Then try a higher IM setting nulling out the iron and see what you hear. I think that will help your decision. Maybe even dig a iron target and lay them on the gound on top of ,beside then under your targets. Then try descriminating the iron out. See if you would still dig it with the disc turned up.

Hi Stoops,

Where did the cursor fall for these tokens? I have my EXII at iron mask 10 and have played around with it at 16 but notice alot of signals with a high pitch end up far over to the left on top, leading me to believe they are iron.

Thanks,
Neil

Were you in Ferrous? I was and I use the digital #s rang a 3-28 which is usually penny/dime.
