Well, my buddy Lee and I went to the picnic ground site last Thursday. We got to our hotel site too early to check in so we headed to another old city park we hunted last year. We weren't there fifteen minutes and a city worker came over and said no metal detecting allowed. Come to find out that sometime last year three or four guys came in there and just tore the crap out of that park and thanks to these jerks another park is now closed to metal detecting!!! Lee talked this city employee into letting us detect and we even showed him how we dig our plugs and cover them up and he was very impressed. He said it was too bad that those other guys weren't as careful as we were. Since we came 300 miles to detect the park this guy said to go ahead and detect today, but if you are here tomorrow then I will have to ask you to leave. Went to the picnic ground on Friday and we hunted it pretty hard and all I got was a 1910 wheat penny!! Very disappointed to say the least as I had great expectations of finding some nice coins at this place. Still no seated coins fellas, but I will keep trying....
My take was eight silver coins and seven wheats. I got a 35, 40 and two 42 mercs, a 64 rosie, a 51 quarter and a 43 and 45 war nickles. My wheats were a 1910 key date, but missing the S mint mark...
, a 21, 28, 37, 42, 44 and 55. I also got a nice little silver ring. My buddy got some mercs and rosie's, some wheats and a nice 1912 barber dime, but I didn't get his head count or any pics. Thanks again to all you guys for the tips on hunting fields. I'm just sorry I didn't have more to show for your efforts, but I will keep trying and my seated coin find will happen one of these days.........
