Weekend Finds.

Went to an old site in Pinehurst, N.C. and was expecting to find some silver but just found a few modern coins. On the way home to Hamlet, N.C. I stopped by the Rockingham Racetrack to do a little hunting and my 1st signal was a silver wedding band, so the day wasn't a total bust. Found some more modern coins among 40 to 50 years of beer cans and fire pits. I like to go up to the rack track to practice detecting and see how many coins I can find in all the trash.

Today I decided to do a little hunting at a hunted out camp site in the area of Sherman's 20th Corp. This little site has been pounded unmercifully and I still seem to drag something out of it. A nice 1860 Seated Half Dime with square hole punched in it, probably carried by a Union soldier, and a lonely percussion cap. I consider todays short hunt a success.

Most people will not hunt the race track because it is so trashy but I like to go up there and see junt how much I can find among all the trash. Its really a good place to practice or if you just want to get out and swing. They still keep the grass cut since they moved all of the races to the west coast. They still use the dragstrip.
