Welcome to the Explorer classroom

Hello everyone! Here is the newest classroom dedicated to the newest and hottest metal detector on the market.... the Minelab Explorer S/XS. I will serve as one of the moderators here; Jim Upstate NY will serve as another. Participation by all of you is highly encouraged! As Jim pointed out once, many of us use the Explorer in different situations with different settings so the more input from the different Explorer users we get, the better this classroom will serve us. I am anxious to learn a little bit from this classroom, myself, as I hope you visitors out there are too. We encourage you new Explorer owners as well as the experienced ones to share your ideas, bring up issues, and solicit information and advice about the Explorer models. No question is too stupid or complicated to ask here as long as we have the support of the classroom attendees to help out. Now let's hear from you guys and gals and let's get to know our new machine from "down under" better and enjoy successful detecting. I have owened the EXP-XS since April,2000 I would like to know if there is a test, such as air test and. I recently sent the detc. to Las Vegas for replacement of broken parts. They repaired it as requested. Now the detc. performs much better. I think they adjusted or replaced something. How far should the detc. pick up various coins in air test Thanks Ken

I was going to say I look forward into learning some things myself. I know theres plenty of folks making some great finds with their setups, hopefully we can all learn new things from each other...Jim

I'm not sure air testing will show exactly what the depth will be in the ground but when I air tested the XS I hit a quarter at 14"s. The dime hit 13-1/2"s, and the penny hit 13"s.

Hello Mike,
Sorry to do this to you, but, we are not DOWN UNDER.
We are actually UP OVER. I think this should be made clear to all.
Thankyou
Dave.
