I was hoping the 1872 date would render some old coins. Wasn't that lucky.
If you remember, I went there yesterday and brought home a 10K gold ring with stone (still intact) found by the swings and LOTS of coins found in the sandbox behind this township hall. I didn't get to hunt it all yesterday but was back there this morning to get what I didn't have time to hunt yesterday.
Yesterday I used the ACE 250, today I used the Minelab with the 8 inch Sunray coil. I found the Minelab picked up coins I missed with the 250 (and deeper)...I did the whole sandbox with the ML today.
Coins were sometimes shallow but most were deep. Here is on hole I dug:

And in many cases I got more than a couple coins in just one scoop. This was the best of them all:

Here is today's find:

Here is the totals for today (top of list) and yesterday (bottom) and combined total:
09/28/09
125 - US Pennies 1.25
1 - Canadian Penny .01
9 - Nickels .45
7 - Dimes .70
_____
$2.41
09/27/09
101 - US Pennies 1.01
1 - Canadian .01
4 - Nickels .20
9 - Dimes .90
1 - Quarter .25
______
$2.37
258 coins = $4.78 total
and (not in the sandbox) 1 - 10K ring with stone
Now I know where those people do their banking (just kidding).

Since I was near a larger town, Manton, I stopped at the elementary and picked up a few coins:

I think a lot of people must bring their detectors with them when they come up here (2 state campgrounds nearby). Maybe explains why there was so little outside the sandbox to find and also so little at the elementary school.
Anyway, this was a pretty good morning. Oh yeah, also got an eyeball find...right at the van when I came back from the playground at the elementary school. Will post the pic in next post...I have a question about it.
Hope your whole day was as good as my morning.
