Went out yesterday to a small, very old (1884), and very trashy park in search of loot.
Eventually I hit a very ugly signal that typically yields aluminum foil. I decided to take the trash in an effort to clean the spot in preparation for the 11" coin

. Before I dug the target however, I decided to switch the frequency from the 12KHz I usually hunt in to the 4KHz which I am beginning to use a little more.
Well, lo and behold, the signal went from a signal no one should ever dig to a mixed signal with well defined iron grunts and a sweet, silky, come-hither kinda of signal that screamed silver. At about 7.5 to 8 inches deep I pulled this:
That's a 1916 S Mercury dime. I was going to put the pictures of the clean dime but the pics were too big. I did for a few minutes think the S was a D so I was very happy...for a little while.
Just goes to show, there are more layers to the XP Deus than an onion!
