Well, it finally happened…

As many other people have reported, my remote started falling off the factory mount on the shaft. I had been trying to baby it along, but simply pressing buttons would cause it to tip back and fall off. I have had a lanyard attached to it and looped around the shaft so when it would fall off, at least it wouldn’t go tumbling down a hill.

Then this last week, one of the side flanges (for lack of a better term) broke off the stock mount. Thankfully, a member of my metal detecting club had downloaded a pattern for a 3-D printer for a new remote holder, which would mount into the stock shaft. He had patterns for right handed, left-handed, and straightforward options. I ordered one of the right handed options when the remote started getting loose last month and he had it ready at this last week’s meeting.

I was able to test it out today and it was very stable and nice to be able to push buttons without the remote falling off. I have attached some pictures in case anybody wants to see what it looks like. Now that I can operate without the lanyard, I don’t notice any difference in the weight. And with the right hand option, it’s actually nice to have the screen tipped towards me.

I wish you luck with the new 3D connector. I recently bought a used rod that had the 3D block. I was overjoyed about mounting my remote on the stem. Sorry to say,
It didnt last but a couple of weeks.

Hope yours is better and stronger. Todd said there is a new connector made by XP. I left several msgs for Richard at Backwoods. no answer. Must be on a trip.

with the remote falling off was one of the reasons I went with another brand of metal detectors. Xp makes one of the best metal detectors out there , but when you loose your remote it is game over. I dont want to spend the day out there looking for the remote, I am out there looking for coins and jewelry. I don't have a remote locator.

Because of this problem, Ive been carrying the D2 remote on a lanyard and placing it in a pocket. I mostly hunt beaches, so I dig everything.
The one time I decided to hunt a very trashy location, I mounted the remote on the stem. Next daym when I went to grab the D1 rod, no remote. Look all over the car, no remote, I hadnt the foggiest idea where or when it fell off, Went back to my location, traced all my steps, nothing. Even went to the police station to see if someone turned it in, Nope. Thankfully I have the WSA 5 and can make adjustments. Unfortunately, I cant switch coils. I have to set that on the remote. Ive changed it on the headphones but it doesnt recognize the other coil, It has to be changed on the remote, too,

What really pisses me off is this has been an ongoing problem since day one and according to Deus Service center, its not covered under warranty !!! To me thats BULL###
We paid a good amount of money for these machines and Deus wont own up to the defect and provide free replacement's.

Any dealers out there have the new replacement connector ???

Please report back if you find one and let us know how it works!

I did loose the remote while hunting in a park, and this kid came up to me and returned it to e :)Yeah
You were very lucky. I just took my whole car apart thinking maybe it fell into a crevice. Nope.

Did get a new 3D block from Eric. Wont be using it now for beach hunting. But as soon as I get back to land
Ill definitely give it a whorl. He tested it and it seemed secure. Time will tell.
