As many other people have reported, my remote started falling off the factory mount on the shaft. I had been trying to baby it along, but simply pressing buttons would cause it to tip back and fall off. I have had a lanyard attached to it and looped around the shaft so when it would fall off, at least it wouldn’t go tumbling down a hill.
Then this last week, one of the side flanges (for lack of a better term) broke off the stock mount. Thankfully, a member of my metal detecting club had downloaded a pattern for a 3-D printer for a new remote holder, which would mount into the stock shaft. He had patterns for right handed, left-handed, and straightforward options. I ordered one of the right handed options when the remote started getting loose last month and he had it ready at this last week’s meeting.
I was able to test it out today and it was very stable and nice to be able to push buttons without the remote falling off. I have attached some pictures in case anybody wants to see what it looks like. Now that I can operate without the lanyard, I don’t notice any difference in the weight. And with the right hand option, it’s actually nice to have the screen tipped towards me.
