Well the updated Explorer finally arrived in the SE...

My understanding they improved the guts to make a fine detector even better but the exterior cosmetics are still a heavy unit. Gosh those blokes down under must be strong guys. On a good note certainly the best guts of any on the market and once an experienced Explorer user goes thru an area not much left for the next guy..Lets hope somewhere along the way they lighten the load..On a good note I took advantage of lower prices on used Explorers because of the new edition and bought a pristine XS with hours on it for about half of what a new one would cost and am sure it will serve me well as my trips are short due to medical problems and certainly not getting any younger...
I am sure new owners of the latest SE will excell and sad but true we sure have many Explorer users in my neck of the woods so silver coins are getting scarce...

Hi Dan.
How does the xs compare to the ex2 for depth? I was wanting a stablemate for my cz70. I had the ex2 for a while but was honestly finding just as many deeper coins with the cz70.
I was hoping the ergonomics were be better on the se even though the weight is pretty much the same. I am a fitness trainer at a gym but after a couple of hours of the ex2...I needed an icepack for my swingin' shoulder. I got cracked at an intersection on my Harley three years ago and have had a few surgeries. I just can't swing a heavy unit very long.
I am thinking about the SE and possible the T2. I am first and formost though waiting on the new Fisher release so I can compare the 3 models. I hadn't considered the xs but I may since the price is right with the new releases.

Here is a depth test a detectorist did in England using lot of different machines.

I feel so much depends on your experience with an Explorer and I think
each individual that used previous Explorers will have to test the new SE to see for themselves with their ground using their settings...
I do know years ago first time I took out the Explorer XS I used quickstart and dug 8 coins( 6 wheaties, merc and a walking half) in a beat area at depth from 6 to 10 inches. I do feel the SE with its improved features especially the VCO pinpointing will be a godsend for many that never could pinpoint well with previous Explorers..I do wish they made a lightweight model, perhaps next time...only time will tell if it will be deeper than the Explorer XS amd Explorer 11..
I feel the Explorer XS wiil go just as deep and the second Explorer 11 model, but whether an SE is any deeper don't have a prayer and info will start to filter in. As far as CZ's go coil for coil deep as any but surely don't give the info an Explorer does..T2 is the latestest Technetics model its lightweight but is bothered by external interferences and don't feel its as deep as the units mentioned above..We can speculate all we want on the new Fisher since they consolidated but would love to see a CZ with a 1-100 meter be their new unit. All in all feel the Explorer SE will be a worldbeater just like the previous Explorers but still heavy..

Erik....

Its a 13+ kHz unit, two filter design.... competes with the MXT by White's and is a bit more sensitive on the really fine jewelry, but the Explorers are still the Silver King Kong of the Surf and Turf.
