Went detecting with my hero over the weekend

HI, all:

My 89 year old father came for a visit this Thanksgiving. He used to hunt for gold with a metal detector in Arizona in the 80's. He recently traded his old Minelab in on a new F 2 and brought it along for it's maiden voyage. I took him to a shcool playground with wood chips. I wanted to hit a spot where there was a reasonable number of coins to find. We did pretty well. His coins are on the left and mine are piled on the right. I was lucky enough to find a Mercury dime, which was a surprise. I call him "my hero" becasue he served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He flew 35 bombing missions over Japan in the B-29s and recieved the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was in India when I was born and the first time he saw me I was a few days short of one year old. If you see a World War II vet, shake his hand and thank him for his service. They are dying at the rate of one thousand a day. Currently, there are only about 10% of those left alive who served in World War II.

Thanks for looking and keep on diggin'

Congrats on the hunt. I am happy for you both that your WWII vet father is still around and able to get around well and hunt with you. If my WWII vet dad were still around, he would be 90. Lost him several years ago.

Shake his hand for me!
