year? Dang, you is one busy bee.:bouncy: And you said the whole thing without 1 single I. We are all SO proud of you.

That's amazing! I have two questions for you:

1) How long have you been detecting?

2) Do you ever work or do you just spend all day in the field?

Congrats Chris

I am jealous cause I can't even get out to detect and it is killing me! To many projects to do at home.

Heck I still have not made it back to that possible cache site (of course I am the only one that knows where it is...it ain't going no where) but still you guys are a killin' me with these finds!

Just keep posting all those photos and I will just keep on being jealous...my day is a comin'!!!!!!

I'm trying to figure out how long that would take at an average of $3.00 a day, three day per week?

Exactly 10,000 so far this year. Last year I reached that milestone on 9/29 this year five weeks earlier. I am very addicted.

Chris

PS I started out just like everybody else, digging 10 or 12 coins a day never thinking I could find more.

Ha. I work three or four days a week. I try to detect on days I don't work, weather permitting. I bought my first detector with green stamps back in the 70s and have always had owned a detector or two since then. Many years I never went out at all because I didn't know what I was doing and I was not successful. Then in Spring 2006 I hit a field for about four hours, got about twenty clad coins, a sliver quarter, and a gold ring. I was hooked and that is when I started seriously trying to become a treasure hunter. When that detector broke, I bought an Ace 250. That was June 2007 and that is also when I started keeping records.

Chris

My first serious year I found fewer than 1,000 coins despite hunting many long hard hours. All it takes is practice, believe me.

Here's the whole story just for you. All I wanted was 37 coins in as short a time as possible. I dug two silver rings, two junk rings, and loads of pop tops. It was one of the best hunts I've had for jewelry in a while and I didn't utter a peep about it. Until now. It took me an hour and a half to round up 37 coins and man was it muggy. I'm slowly realizing it's gonna be hard to top that Reale from Sunday. It has lead me to do a lot of reading. I'm thinking it might be the most historic thing I ever find. I can hope for something better, though. A little depressing.

Back to work tomorrow. Now I am depressed.

Chris

I can tell you how long it took me. 10,000 coins exactly. 93 hunts. 265.5 total hours. That is from January 1 until today.

Chris

I've done that. 30,000 coins lifetime with my Garretts before the end of the year. I'm 2803 coins away. Do you think I'll make it?

I'd also like to find 16 more silver coins before 2009 ends.

Chris

Chris this is why your my role model! I like to track stastistics also. Case in point; my nickle to other clad ratio is way to low, I'm now trying different techniques to increase my nickle count. I'm no where close to you but I'm trying. Your posts always inspire me! Good for you bud.:garrett:

I was thinking about our old nickel conversations as I entered that hunt onto my spreadsheet. Those 5 nickels put me one over my entire total from last year. 1056 nickels so far in 2009. I am digging a lot more nickels and finding a lot less gold. Just goes to show you how much luck is involved.
