Went to Indianapolis and joined the Colt fans saturday..............

Fred (S. Indiana)

Active member
at the Indy 1500 gun show, Colt fans, Winchester fans, S&W fans, no, not for the game, but the bargains seemed abundant, large, overwhelmingly huge show, packed shoulder to shoulder, maybe the biggest in the midwest, took my eleven year old S&W 38 j-frame and quickly got an offer to trade for the M&P Smith 357, my gun and 300.00, got more for trade than I paid eleven years ago, ammo prices were decent, 4 bucks a box for the 7.62X39, 100-357 HPs for 41 dollas pictured is what I got for 400.00...........and by the way, Manning and the Colts will go all the way......................fred

I was at a local show here yesterday and i also noticed prices are FINALY becomin reasonable once more.
I made a decision to git me one o' these.

I'm goin with a Mossberg based one tho that will cost about half that.

The whole process of the paper work and such should take about 5-6 months before i actualy have it in my possession.

But this, this is my favorite, RWS 177 cal pellet gun, 1100FPS, accuracy of 1" groups at 40 yds, living in town we can't discharge firearms, but where I'm at, I can shoot targets from the back porch and no one is all the wiser, I don't enjoy shooting any of our wildlife, only targets..........

Here's the scoop.
First off, YES it IS illegal if you or i convert a standard shotgun oursleves.
These are remanufactured by a company called Serbu.
Remington or Mossberg sends a full sized pump to Serbu and they cut it down and alter the slide.
(they come in 6" and 12")
IF, the manufacturer sends it to Serbu with a full stock and Serbu swaps it out for a pistol grip,
alters the length and remanufactures the slide mechanism,
it becomes a class III weapon and requires a Federal background check and a $200.00 tax stamp.
IF the manufacturer sends it to Serbu with a pistol grip allready on it, and Serbu remanufactures
the slide mechanism, it is then classified as a AOW or,
Any Other Weapon and requires a federal background check and a $5.00 tax stamp.
(big difference)
Serbu cuts the Remingtons to 6" and class III retailers sell it fer around $700- $800
Serbu cuts the Mosbergs to 12" and class III dealers sell them fer around $400.00
No brainer which one i'm buyin. ;)

yes you can own this. ( as long as you don't have a felony record)

This is clasified as AOW Any Other Weapon.
Not a SBS, Short Barrle Shotgun.
ATF catagorizes this weapon as "it still remains a shotgun".
Under the 2nd amendment a state cannot legaly deny you, a law abiding citizen
to own a firearm.
They can however regulate what class of weapons you may or may not own in that particular state.
This is not one of them.

Most law enforcement have no idea what the laws are. For what it would cost in legal fees and hassle getting it released back to you it wouldn't be worth it. I won't even start about the assault rifle ban when Florio was in office. Jim, why do you think there is a huge sign on rt 78 as you enter PA from NJ that says "America starts here":sadwalk:

That's why, well, one of a few reasons, allthough here in Pa it is pefectly legal to strap yer six gun or whatever to yer side and
and go about yer day, i would never do such a thing.

That sign is funny and at the same time not suprising.
I used to drive in and out o' Jersey a LOT back in the 80's.
It was a common "inside" joke with us.The first truck across the border back into Pa
would git on the CB and say "welcome back to America".
That sign wasn't there then .

when it comes to home defense the pump shotgun is and probably allways will be the best way to go.
That Shorty for me is gonna be more of a new cool toy
