Went to the park for clad, brought home a barbie!:bouncy:

I had to run to town to the auto parts store, figured I'd get in some detecting time, at a trashy park, so I grabbed the T2. Figured I'd find a little clad to offset my gas into town. We had 2" of rain the other day , so the soil was perfect. I started next to the tot lot border, found a few clads. I then hit a quieter good sounding signal. The signal was only was under about 50% of the coil, so it was small , or deep. I dug a plug, and removed some dirt, I still could get no signal on the pinpointer. I dug some more, and hit a root.:ranting:. I dug under the root and stuck the pinpointer under. It sounded off , so out came some more dirt. On my dirt pile, I saw a silver edge, and bingo.:clapping: At first I thought it was a standing Lib quarter, as I did not have my glasses along, but low and behold a Barber! Its been a few years since I dug one of these in a park. Depth was 7-8 ", sens at 70, disc at 70. Very productive 1.5 hours. I also picked up 15 clads. It was a good day in the Ozarks!

I need to rethink my strategy for this park. It may have a bunch of old stuff deep.

Sweet find. I also use a T2. I just got it in July and it's great. There could be more old deep stuff around or maybe that one was left because of hard digging. I have left good hits behind because I didnt feel like digging under thick roots and such before. It's depressing when I dig for twenty minutes to find junk, but then it could be a Barber right. I'm wondering what tones you use on your T2. I mostly have been using one tone. I like the solid tone i get even if the numbers get a bit jumpy on the ID, which I find the T2 likes to do.

I had it on 4 tones. Didn't feel like digging much junk that day. I had the disc cranked up also. I'm liking this T2 more for junk filled parks. I dug up 6 nickels yesterday, watching for stable 57-58 reads.

I have been digging more nickels with this detector too. I even found my first buffalo with it.
