I picked my XT-70 up from UPS at lunch and got to open the box after supper. I didn't know what to expect. I bought it because the feature set appealed to me.

It's not like I thought it would be at all. First off, the meter pod and display is bigger than I expected it to be.

Second, the tones are nice and mellow. I enjoy the sound and texture of all 5 tone modes. I didn't expect that.

The number range is different than I expected, too. Now I know why folks were talking notch bounces instead of number bounces. It only displays even numbers, or basically one number is assigned to each notch. So even if the non-ferrous scale goes up as high as 48, you are really only going up 24 numbers counting in increments of 2.

No problem accessing controls or telling whats going on after a manual read through.

I know why the guy in the video had such good looking coil control on the beach segment. It because its designed to provide that kind of control. I like that.

I haven't done anything but sweep it over the carpet and listen to the tones. Maybe thrown a couple of coins down, but I can already tell I'm going to really like this one.

I'll take it out Sunday.

But I would almost bet you don't wait until Sunday! :detecting: Randy
