Hi everyone !
My favorite park has lots of pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters, but most of them are so surrounded by close trash that my Gamma has a hard time making a choice and keeps jumping from one target icon to another, back and forth. I don't believe this is an EMI problem; just too much trash ! Targets that I decide to dig, weather coin or trash, are normally 1/2 to 7" deep.
I use the Pinpoint button and listen to the VCO audio to locate the center of the coil over the target, stop movement, and press a golf tee into the ground at the spot where the audio was loudest / highest pitch.
Below are my usual settings after finding a rare patch of "clean" ground and performing GROUND GRAB, which usually indicates a ground value somewhere between 50 and 65 (Red, yellow, and brown iron-bearing clay minerals.).
Volume: 10
# of tones 3
Sensitivity 60
Mode: Discriminate
Disc. level: 42-43
Would changing any of the settings help to reduce the problem of the target indicator "jumping from one target icon to another, back and forth." syndrome ?
With regard to my (3) questions, one above and two below, what has your experience been in these areas ?
I'm using the 42-43 Disc. level so I don't miss any small gold rings, etc.. Do you think raising this setting would help to reduce the target indicator from jumping around, without missing any small gold rings, etc. ?
Also, I'm using Sensitivity setting 60 to get reasonable depth on coin-size targets at up to 7". Do you think I could reduce this setting without sacrificing much depth ?
Thanks for any advice you can give !
