What causes pinpoint to be silent

Sometimes with my MXT Pro, after finding a target and sweeping both angles, I'll move the coil off to the side and go to pinpoint but the machine goes silent. Will have to resweep and try pinpointing again, sometimes numerous times before it pinpoints.
 
Sounds like you're probably not pulling the coil far enough off the terget before going to PP . . .
