General Rules

The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

Rules for Non Sponsoring Sellers:

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.
  • Do not put links to other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.
  • Dealers are not allowed to post in Classifieds unless they are a sponsor.

Advertisements not adhering to the above rules will be deleted without warning or notification.

I posted if anyone here had a 180 meter for a Sovereign for sale, and i received a reply from Cache Man:

He wrote:

"I have a new one that I bought new and then I found a different meter that I had been looking for, meter and meter cover is $150.00 let me know as I will be posting it and some other things for sale."

I replied that i was in a middle of a trade with another gentleman, and if that falls through i will be willing to buy his meter. Unfortunately i didn't reply to that gentleman's email in time and the trade fell through. So i sent this to Cache Man:

He offered you a special deal before listing it.. You told him you had another deal going...........Turning down the special before list price..

Then you contacted Cacheman who is known for good honest deals here and made known you were a little worried about sending a money order...
Sorta questioned his integrity... after he offered to give you a special price deal. You then said you wanted additional days to think about it.. He clearly replied he was going to list it and other items up for sale. He did not want to wait any longer.

Now..I think what may have offended him is after you turned down the deal..he posted a asking price for the meter..You then wanted a special deal a second time.. after the listed price was up............ He most likely didn't want to be involved in a deal where one party wasn't comfortable from the get go with the terms, and it felt like a red flag deal to him... I think a little better communication from you to him, stated a better way would have made him feel better about the whole thing....... Sounds like he just would rather not get involved any further with a deal with you due to circumstances.. You just didn't seem comfortable buying the unit at any price...and that usually makes for bad deals..........Posting your question here confirms he may have been right too. It was a no deal made between you and cacheman..It should not have been brought up here for me , or anyone else to disect the why... But you did ask...so I gave my opinion..I most likely should not have done that either....
 
I am inclined to agree with you on one thing, that is what probably offended him was me not wanting to send the money order for $150 since i have never dealt with him before, thus questioning his integrity. If i had Pay Pal, at least i know that i am protected in a way, so with a money order i had a right to be a bit concerned. However, after writing that sentence, i wrote "But i see that you are an active and well respected member on here, so i think i will give it a try. But let me think about it until Monday." I told him that i will get back to him on Monday, since he said that he wasn't going to put it up for sale until Monday anyways.

I don't think i am in the wrong at all here. Obviously you guys are buddies.
 
You made the post, so...If I can be honest?

As someone who has bought and sold many, many times on here and another classifieds forum:

1) Cache Man as the seller can do anything he wants to because you never made the deal. He made you a offer and you walked away. Since the deal was never made, he was not obligated to anything regarding that particular offer. Now he is free to do what ever he wants to, including listing it, changing the price and making the decision to not deal with you. Nothing about the first offer was binding on him after you walked.

2) Based upon the fact you even made this post, It is my opinion that Cache Man did good to walk away from you.

3) Because of this post, many others will also steer clear of you from now on.

No, I am not a friend of Cache Man.

You may want to find a dealer to sell you a meter now.

what I figured would happen..So Like I said I most likely should not have posted a response.."NO WE ARE NOT BUDDIES" Never met the man.. I do know he is a respected well thought of member here though....and his word is his bond. See, now you want to attack me with your little snide remark..and you posted the question.. Hmmmmmm. (obviously you guys are buddies) Sure does confirm to me Cache Man made the right choice... Have a nice day Sir..I am finished with this..............Oh by the way..I would be honored to be his friend..
 
Once again, i want to emphasize that i don't think Cache Man did anything wrong by not selling the meter to me, or posting it up for sale. That was not my complaint. I just wanted to point out that he was rude with his dealings with me. That's why i posed it on here because i believe people should have manners and treat each other with respect.

I have always been polite on my side while communicating with him, but ended up receiving an angry message from him for no good reason.

Common courtesy, and treating fellow metal hobbyists with respect was the point of this post. Hopefully the more enlightened members of this forum will understand that. And if i didn't clearly explain this at the start, my apologies.
 
I Notice that you failed to tell the whole story how you sent me a private message stating that you would take the meter off my hands at a much lower price and I told you No you wouldn't and that I wasn't a flea market (offer a much lower price) and how you threatened to give me a bad post in the feed back forum, I see This is what you do if someone want take a much lower price anyway HH:detecting:
 
Sir, you are either lying or are very confused:

I mentioned that in my original post. It said:

"So i contacted him again asking if the meter was still available and whether he would sell it to me at a lower price."

I never said that i wanted a lower price or i will post your rude message on here, i just said that i am going to post it on here and show everyone how rude you were in our communication, and i did right after i got your rude message, never even waited for your response.

You can post all of my messages on here, i would really appreciate that.

Those 180 are good if most sounds seem like copper or silver, but remember it's more weight and weakens the batteries sooner, but honestly I find it an excellent meter.... oj
 
It's true, but i am really tone death so most of the tones sound the same to me. Maybe it's a matter of practice thought. Hopefully ill find a nice used one someday. HH
 
Wow ... those meters are getting valuable.
I have two of them I would have sold for $60 each.

I'm not taking any side in this disagreement but I agree with Brawler_7"s point, manners and consideration are everything. Manners equal respect. JMHO
