what do I have here?

Jeff in Pa

Well-known member
I found this in my back yard, I am assuming its a token, but I don't know. I live 2 blocks from one of Joseph Priestley's homes.
Can anyone identify it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hey Jeff, You got a token from a collection that used to be given away at a major gas station chain. I used to have the set as a kid. It is probably about 40 years old. They used to give away a different token each week with a gas fillup.

Hey Jeff I live in PA also, and I found one Just like it at a 1775 Church last week. Neat tokens, but not much value. Keep huntin' Jerry

I am having alot of fun with my new machine, and finding something that I don't know what it is makes it all the better!

Jeff

I think what you have is not the gas station presidents game. Those were made from aluminum. I do believe that cracker jack had a president coin series. I have alot of the gas station coins and they have only one side of the coin with information and the other side blank. Like Rain Man would say " Ya definatly Cracker Jack"

Hate to differ but, I had this complete set. They were gas station tokens and were not aluminum. The front just had the bust and number the president was and name. The back had a little short bio. Had a board to go with them. Could turn the board over and read the back of the token's as well as the front. They did not make much of anything out of aluminum when they came out in the late 60's.

I have a Woodrow Wilson and a Warren G.Harding token almost identical to that one, found in a 1816 school yard. Very neat find!!

I am pleased to find it and knowing it's not worth anything is also a plus!! LOL That way I don't worry about cleaning it! I already had it in some peroxide to show more detail..

HH,

JEFF

I've found some of each kind; similar to what Jeff posted and then some of the cracker jack variety. The cracker jack ones were started in the early thirties if I recall correctly. Not sure of the date of the other kind.

Guys,
I just dug the FDR token the other day. I don't remember when I dug the Taft one. They are aluminum AND they say "Cracker Jack" right on them.
