What do you guys do about cleaning Coins?

I've always heard that you ruin the value of a coin by cleaning it. What do you guys do? I've seen some nice shiny finds on the forum.

...but that is not to say a key coin in rough shape has no value they do if rare. It's perfectly safe to use silver dip for silver, remember to dip only once and rinse in cold water.Jewellry nd coin stores sell the product. For collectable coppers soak in virgin olive oil, works if your not in a hurry also will darken coins. If not valuable nothing really to do,and kind of nice to see the date and features of a found coin, good luck ojm

what ever you do, DO NOT PUT SILVER COINS IN PEROXIDE! The Peroxide will give them a dull grey look to them. Only rinse Silver Coins under a faucet and if you have a Soft Toothbrush, when you have the coin under the faucet with the water running, gently rub the Toothbrush under the water against the coin surface and this will get rid of the dirt that is in the lettering of the Coin. Good Luck and HH.

I just use distilled water and a brush to start on all then on copper I sometimes will use peroxide and a brush. If it has value don't do much.
Happy Hunting, mpk
