Got a canteen and this at the Garrett hunt. What is this in the case?

Top two center items are fuse primers. Below that looks like a scabbard tip and below that is a post war tent rope tensioner. That style tensioner was patented Nov. 30 1880.

I found three of the rope tensioners recently and knew what they were from other posts... did not realize some had patent dates on them... great information you provided on them...👍👍

I think that they were military issue in the beginning but may have been commercially available later on. While I do know when they were patented I do not know when they went out of production. I have several with and without patent dates that came from a Spanish-American war camp site located near me.
