I have recently got back into hunting and pin pointers were just starting when I took a leave of absence. I got a automax free with a new detector last year. I have broke it already :(
Viba pro looks good! What do you boys and gals Think???? Thanks

People that use Garretts have the highest IQ :))

Yes I saw the sunray, but don't know if I want to have it on the detector, and me going through the jungle. More likely to get snagged!

Thank for the input! I mean thanks Amigo!

So far I have owned and used three pinpointers:

Sherlock: Awkward case shape, and momentary push button on/off switch failed. I rewired it w/a Radio Shack micro-toggle, and it works fine. No vibration feature, but you can see the LED turn green along with the tone alert. Adjustable sens. Short shaft though.

Automax V2: much longer shaft, and overall kinda big and clumsy case size. Son stepped on shaft and it broke at a segment (it is not a one piece shaft). After repairing the shaft (tape) it worked fine again for a while, then just died.

Whites Bullseye2 120mm: Seems to me to be a repackaged Sherlock. Same sens. adj. knob. Same 5mm white LED that illuminates the probe area. Probe shaft longer than the Sherlock. Case seems well made, and the boot covering the montary on/off switch is rubber, not mylar as on the Sherlock, so should last longer. No LED that changes color as on the Sherlock, but DOES have a vibrator alert you can choose over the audible alert. The audible alert sounds identical to the Sherlock. This is the one I am using right now, and it works great.

I use the VibraProbe. Have had the same one for over five yrs. now. It's tough to say the least. Waterproof to 30 feet, too. Just tilt up and it comes on and shuts off after 1 min. of inactivity. Detect to 1". I also have the Vibra-tector with the 4" coil that hits a little deeper. Also waterproof to 30' but does not have the on/off feature. Tighten up the battery thing and it stays on. If you forget to loosen the battery thing it will just eat up the 9V battery. Good luck on your decision.

:twodetecting:I have the vibra probe and like it a lot. It turns itself off automatically if it does not touch metal for two minutes.Turn the probe up again and it is on. Only fault I have found is if it is laying on the floor of the vehicle, handle forward and you hit the brake hard{should'nt be tail gating}it turns itself on.Then two minutes later you hear the two buzz's as it turns off.

Tough, waterproof, no switches to wear out...

cons: limited depth, maybe an inch on a coin, won't hit on alot of foil that the detectors hit easily.

Only pinpointer I've ever used, but from what I've read, you could do worse!
