I've never used a bigfoot coil so I can't comment on that. I can tell you that if you pinpoint and it indicates that the target is under the middle of the coil, then it is there. I did some tests this weekend on some buried targets in my yard and the 11 inch coil is deeper than the 10x5, but I expected it to be. A Union cuff button laying flat at 9 inches, with the G2 sens maxed out, gave me a very faint whisper with the 11 inch coil but the numbers were dead on accurate. The 10x5 gave no indication that there was a target there. It might have in all metal but I didn't try that, but I will this week.
Based on my time with the G2 and testing, if you get the smallest, barely audible (barely a hum when you pass over the target), signal you'd better be checking the numbers. If they repeat with every pass of the coil you'd better dig it. The G2 is an awesome machine that cannot be beat in heavy iron sites. I know for relic hunting it is my "go to" machine when I run into heavy iron, nails, etc. If I'm in a cleaner site / area I will use the T2SE in boost mode.
The main thing is bury a few items in your yard that you spend your time looking to dig (coins, relics, etc). Measure the depth of each target and try anything and everthing with your machine to find out what it will do. That is the only way you can learn how it will react to a target under a nail, next to a pull tab, coin on edge, etc.
One more thing....use all metal when you are around power lines. That is the rule for all Fisher and Teknetics products. Since most people never test or use all metal it is important to learn it first in your test garden.
