Found this this last weekend too. It rang on the high side, i think its a button but i don't have a clue.

they use to sew a few along the bottom of a curtain or a dress to keep it in place when windy I think. I have one just like it.
 
I would double check to make sure there is no writing on it. Looks allot like a larger version of a transit token. But sounds like people have found similar so maybe not.
 
Ive found quite a few of them...They are basically the eyelet of a tarp... A tarp as in the actual canvas tarp not the plastic that we use today... used to cover, enclose, drape, wrap...you get it? Hey your not hunting here in Utah are ya? Hope your not in my spot LOL

That's exactly what they are. I've found lots of them. Used to think they were buttons.:rofl:
 
Thejetman, it is called a hem weight. It was used in the hems of ladies skirts to weight them down and hold them straight.
