I would be careful, could be buried utility / electric lines.
I really don't think it's from any sort of buried cables or even fuel lines but like scampman said PLEASE be careful ! Try to dig around it to see if it has a body to it . It might be some type of old flashing material or a edging of some sort for construction .... IMHO , Woodstock
