What kind of detector/detectors do you all use?

Just curious what kind of detectors each of you prefer. I am currently using an X-Terra 70, and trying to decide on what other one to get. Maybe one of you can assist me in my choice. Looking at Whites MXT, Fisher F75, or maybe even an E-trac if I'm really nice to my wife. Please give your 2 cents on your detector of choice.
Thanks

As I am kind of new to the hobby, I am using my father in laws(who passed away in December) old Garrett Master Hunter Deepseeker ADS III. It was just reworked by Garrett. I am learning more about it every day. Picked up a used Bounty Hunter Pioneer 101 for my wife to use. We are in the process of getting new detectors in the next month. Some are saying get the Ace 250 by Garrett. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know.

A Minelab Explorer II for old coins and relics, and a Fisher CZ-20 for water hunting.
Be extra nice to her and get an E-trac! Ya can't go wrong with the Explorer series! :)

The Ace 250's are pretty good for the money. I know a good Christian Dealer if you need a couple. He supports our forum hunt every year!
There are better detectors but they are more expensive. the Ace 250 is a great deal for the money.

Mike, let me know about your dealer friend. I would like to see what he's got. I believe in supporting the Christian community. I figure the 250 would help us to learn more, and we can always update as we gain more experience. Thanks again for all you do to help us grow in the hobby.

I've always used the White's Detectors and was using a White's Spectrum XLT purchased in late 94...I really liked it and you could program different uses for it. I had my own program downloaded to find most of the good stuff, but did eliminate some by not digging everything! Ma just got too tired swinging and digging! I know nothing about the others....but hear the Minelabs are really good for going deeper for those older coins and that the 250 is good for coin hunting! God Bless and hope you find something great to use and while :detecting: ! :)
God Bless! Betty

i use a f-75!!! before you buy make sure you check out the new fishers, f5,f70 and f75.

Thanks everyone. I read good things about all of your detectors. I may try to trade or find a used F-75. Their resales do not tend to fetch as much, so I may find a good deal. Hate to spend too much money right now. I've decided to give 1/4 of what I find towards my church, and 1/4 to the Rolling Dog Ranch ( It is an animal sanctuary for disabled animals), then, put the rest towards my son's future education. This will make me feel less guilty. Thanks and God Bless.

I have three
Minelab explorer II for most of my detecting
Whites Prizm IV for our clubs 2 seeded hunts we have each year ( very light weight detector) A lot of the time I keep my Prizm in the van so I have one with me if I see a spot to detect while driving around
Whites Beach hunter for water detecting

I want a Garrett Infinium really bad but it's not for everybody or everywhere. You can use it in the water or on land. In a park or playground though it would drive you nuts. I read an article where a guy detected an area in a park with the best Fisher available and found over 150 targets, junk, good etc. He had done this untill he could no longer get any signals. He then went over it with the Infinium-over 1100 more targets junk, good etc. If you've been detecting for any length of time you can imagine how many of those were junk and deep. Just had to throw this in.

a Whites XLT that I ise all the time. My three cildren each have a Whites Classic II. My 12 year old son is wanting an XLT of his own. I am hoping to find a good used one for him at a good price this year.

I have been using the Fisher 1266 X for about 12 years now. I'm still very happy with it and cannot imagine another detector that would find more for me. But I dont know anything about the current ones, so no help there. Keep in mind that the man behind the machine is as important as the machine. steve in so az

:minelab::minelab:I use a minelab x-terra 50.I have a bounty hunter sharp shooter II for back up.I haven't used the bounty hunter since I got the minelab. Just found a silver wedding band yesterday.

you are correct in that there weren't witnesses to his story but it does follow what others are reporting on the depth and sensitivity of the Infinium. It ranks with the second best Minelab at about 1/2 the price. The tester was using the best land-based Fisher, V.L.F., and not the under-water Fisher P.I. which would be a closer comparison but the Infinium is marketed as a land use detector also and is a P.I. Most detectorist use of the Infinium for relic, gold nugget and underwater hunting just for the reasons given. As you know P.I.'s are very fond of iron and the Infinium is no exception. It does have a setting to check iron but the users are reporting that it is minimally sucessful. Most P.I. users stick to the underwater applications becuase of the characteristics of the beast. I don't have a problem believing that any P.I.(Fisher, Whites, Tesoro, etc) can outperform any V.L.F. for depth and sensitivity, including the Whites and Fisher multi-frequency machines on land. The guys that nugget hunt for a living in OZ like but don't prefer the Garrett Infinium compared to the Minelabs but find the Garrett to have quicker response and better pinpointing but less sensitivity to very small nuggets. P.I.'s are pretty much a dig everything detector and I can live with that. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
