Had this odd rock for a few months now and have found nothing like it in the same area, or ever. It is about the size of a fist and rather dense. The close-up photo shows a tiny quartz seam in it. Very curious how it formed. The darker areas are raised up a bit from the rest of the rock.

I'm not a fossil guy, but I'm going with coral.

Wow. You guys seem pretty sure about it....I'm impressed. I found it in southeast Alaska. I searched the general beach area where found but discovered no other pieces. Is there any kind of value to it?... not that I would sell it.

Theres a gazillion tons of it all over, but lots of variations. As ab said, it can be quite pretty when polished.

[sup][/sup] Can anyone translate, provide denomination, Year of Coin and anything else that
provides information, as I am lost!

Thank you,
Densuke

It's a Chinese coin. The Yuan Shi-Kai, or The "Fat Man Dollar." 1914-1928. Before Chang Kia-shek. Counterfeiting in Asia was widespread back then so it's very likely to be a fake.
